Peaceful and Relaxing Escape - Andrew M. Hampshire, 5 Stars
Tory and family have refurbished the cottage beautifully, and it is warm, homely, and very comfortable. A great enclosed garden for the dogs, and a very peaceful and relaxing location. The cottage is well situated for visiting various parts of Northumberland, which must be the best county in the country in terms of scenery, coast, castles and tranquility. A fabulous week, and like most others who've stayed in the cottage, I'm sure we'll be back. (And the superb lemon cake Tory left for our arrival deserves it's own mention..).

This quiet cottage is truly removed from the city bustle. It is immaculately presented and the owner provided welcome treats as well as comfortable bedding, WiFi, outdoor seating and Gas BBQs as well as just about everything you could possibly want. What a welcoming cottage this is. Well located for Wallington Hall, Bolam Lake, Hadrians Wall, Hexham and within easy reach of the coastal delights of Northumberland. This host has got it spot on. Will be back.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the cottage had everything you needed to make it home from home, lots of personal touches, home made cake and marmalade, fresh flowers.
Also lots of wildlife, we frequently saw wild deer, swallows, bats, rabbits to name but a few.
Good location for visiting many of the lovely places around you, we went all over even made it up to Edinburgh for the day!
A very relaxing stay away from all the hustle of the real world.

The cottage is a very comfortable and peaceful place to have a holiday, yet close enough to a main road for visiting other places.
It is furnished very comfortably and the Easter decorations were wonderful! Lovely and light, with a window in the shower room and sky light in the bathroom. The soft furnishings are beautifully co-ordinated.
Tory is lovely and did all she could to make our stay wonderful, including getting children's books and toys that our 3 year old granddaughter was delighted with! She also left very welcome flapjack, a jar of marmalade and a pint of milk.
We hope to return soon.

Our first visit to Northumberland and will definitely return. The cottage was immaculate; furnished and complete with everything needed. The most perfect tucked-away base to explore this beautiful county. Belsay Castle, Hall and Gardens, the coastline, Hadrian's Wall and even Scotland - we drove over on our wedding anniversary for the day - are in easy driving from the cottage. The whippets loved the garden and we enjoyed walking from the door to Bolam Lake Country Park, as well as just exploring the lake, summerhouse and fields around the cottage. Tory was so helpful and friendly and made us very welcome as we arrived to homemade lemon drizzle cake and plum jam. Thank you so much, Tory and William.

We've never had a holiday in Northumbria before and found Shortflatt Farm on Owners Direct when we were looking to book a week. If you want seclusion in a quality property look no further. Most relaxing holiday we've had in ages. Our dogs loved it too. The garden is enclosed, large and safe for dogs. Met the owners who were both lovely and couldn't do enough to help. In short the whole experience was simply brilliant. We'll be back.
